Sustainable privacy screens. The team at Solarglide care about the environment and the Global Maritime Industry which we serve, it’s part of our company culture. We have made significant changes here at Solarglide. The first step, was to improve our product packaging and internal processes. We did this by replacing plastics for recycled and biodegradable packaging materials. To read more about of sustainability journey so far please visit our website blog page.
But first, let us tell you about Solarglide’s amazing, sustainable privacy screens; the main feature is that they’re made from 100% recycled ocean plastics. (Those plastics found at the bottom of the ocean and recovered from the sea). The fabric used in our sustainable privacy screens prevent abandoned plastics from further polluting our oceans and avoids them going back into landfill sites.
The ocean plastics are sorted, shredded, and melted into pellets before being processed and knitted together. Once dried out, the fabric is ready to use for blinds production. Amazing right?
The fabric has a 5% openness factor which means that it allows lots of light into the interior space whilst offering moderate shading and privacy. The fabric is flame retardant to DIN4102-B1 and IMO approved; it comes in seven neutral colours including pebble, plaza grey and white. The fabric is robust and wipe clean; it also withstands mould and is suitable for damp interior conditions. Due to its hard-wearing nature this product comes with a 7-year product warranty.
