Solarglide’s Project Manager Andrew Payne Completes London Marathon 2025
Solarglide’s Projects Manager – Andrew Payne, ran this years London marathon with a time of 4:47:37. This was Andrew’s first full marathon. However, the Solarglide team are no strangers to ( staying ahead of the competition) and long-distance running, with managing director – Paul Pringle and Andrew being participants of the Great North Run and the Blaydon Race – amongst others.
The London Marathon Started in Greenwich and Finished on The Mall, Running Past Great Britain’s Proudest Maritime Achievements.
Starting in Greenwich (the place where the Greenwich meridian was set in 1884 as the international standard for timing and marine navigation) the route then takes you down to the Cutty Sark – one of the fastest tea clippers ever built, then crossing over Tower Bridge to enter London’s docklands, formerly known as the East & West India companies. The route then turn westwards, to follow the River Thames back into the City, turning up past the Houses of Parliament, before finally proceeding by Buckingham Palace on the Mall.

The London Marathon
The London marathon is one of the worlds seven ‘Majors’ – with Berlin, Boston, Chicago, New York, Sydney, and Tokyo being the other six. This year, was the 45th anniversary of the London marathon with a record 56,000 runners taking part.
Andrew Commented – “the race starts at mile 20 is so true – I was doing fine until mile 22 and then my pace fell off a cliff. However, I just kept on moving one foot in front of the other – delighted to have completed it. The heat was a particular difficulty this year. So, I’ve entered next years ballot to see if I can improve my time”.
