Catamaran

Cutting edge Australian shipbuilder chooses our solar screens with the help of our new Agent.

The Challenge

Tasmanian based INCAT are renowned for the construction of environmentally friendly, high speed lightweight catamarans. They were looking for a supplier who could support their build with type approved, easy to install solar screens that met the build quality and standards to which all their vessels are constructed.

This particular project was to support the build of the new 100m Wave Piercing Catamaran, the Buccoo Reef (operated by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago).

The Solution

Guy Whitehouse, our new Agent dedicated to the Australian market, worked closely with the client to provide the right solution whilst meeting their build schedule and all required standards for type approval.  Working in partnership, we then provided 16 SG Glider solar screens.

Results

The routes in which the vessel operates and the intricate nature of docking in these ports, make for challenging navigation. The introduction of solar screens onto the ship bridge combats the risk of solar glare whilst reducing temperatures by up to 15OC, making for safer navigation and more comfortable working environments.

The solar screens were manufactured to the exact shape and size of the windows, shipped to Australia and installation was completed in less than one week within September 2020, to the satisfaction of INCAT.
