Solarglide Supplies 146 Blackout Blinds To Deliver An EPIC Nights Sleep
The Task
Norwegian Cruise Lines appointed Solarglide to survey, supply, and install replacement window treatments onboard the MV Norwegian Epic. They wanted to remove obsolete blinds from Deck 16 and 17 and replace them with a blackout blind option.
Solarglide travelled to Norway to undertake a detailed survey of the vessel’s windows and discuss Norwegian Cruise Lines’ requirements.
Installation
142 SG LUNAGLIDER NC blackout screens were installed with side channels for cabins, washrooms, and shower rooms on both decks. Installation took place while the vessel travelled its Mediterranean schedule through Cannes to La Palmas.
They were manufactured to the exact shape and size of the windows and installation was completed in less than one week.
The blinds are designed for privacy, mould resistant fabrics for restrooms and show areas as well as durable and easy to maintain.
Challenges
As our engineers had to work while the ship was in voyage they were tasked with a tight schedule, they were onboard for four days working 10-hour shifts whilst the ship was moving and full of passengers. They arrived onboard in Barcelona and departed in Pisa, Italy.
