North Sea

UK based rig accommodation experts choose our blackout blinds for prestigious North Sea Oil Rig, Nobel Hans Deul.

The Challenge:

One of our Clients in Scotland has just taken delivery of two ship sets containing blackout blinds for two oil rigs operating in the North Sea. As oil rig workers typically spend several weeks onboard, it is vital to ensure they have a comfortable and well rested cabin to return to.

Light pollution can be a real issue for crew who are trying to sleep during daylight hours. As the rigs are constantly exposed to direct and indirect sunlight, the cabins can become hot and uncomfortable. It is vital that the crew have some protection from this; any rigger will confirm that a comfortable resting environment is paramount to ensure a safe rig.

The Solution:

Our blackout blinds are a range of retractable black out roller blinds; they block out light and solar glare making cabins comfortable.  Made with IMO approved fabrics and with mold resistant options, these easy to maintain blackout blinds act as a barrier reducing light and heat.  Ideal for use in heavy wear environments such as Oil Rigs.

The Results:

  • 31 Cassetted blackout blinds installed on each rig
  • 31 windows protected from light pollution and solar glare
  • A happy and rested crew

Blackout blinds are an essential product which help make crew and passenger areas on vessels, a more comfortable environment. The retractable roller blinds can eliminate up to 99% of incoming light whilst reducing the temperature of a cabin by up to 15°C.
