Community Project To Vietnam

Solarglide Managing Director, Paul Pringle has joined a 2024 community project to Vietnam, exploring Hanoi and The Pù Luông Nature reserve, all whilst raising vital funds for the local community with St Oswald’s Hospice.

Pù Luông Nature Reserve

The community project to Vietnam will take Solarglide Managing Director – Paul Pringle and his companions far off the beaten track and into the remote and beautiful hills of Northern Vietnam within the Pù Luông Nature Reserve area. Passing through remote villages and staying at different local stilt house accommodations each night. The ‘trekkers’ will experience an authentic insight into the lifestyle of the ethnic minority people who live in the area. Deemed as a moderate to challenging trek, it will involve navigating some varied and challenging terrain. Paul and his fellow community helpers will walk for approximately 15-20km per day which will take around 6-7 hours. The trek duration will be 10 days including travel. Some serious calories will be burnt.

Completely Hands On Approach in Vietnam

The trek will begin in the Mai Chau region for two days, working at a local community project in Vietnam, supporting a small palliative care unit. The specific tasks will depend on the most urgent need at the time but are likely to include painting, decorating, gardening and other hands-on refurbishment type tasks.

Paul Pringle Said :

“I am excited to be continuing my support for local charity, St Oswald’s Hospice. I signed up for the community project to Vietnam as I wanted to show my support for the staff, the patients, and their families connected to the hospice. St Oswald’s is a charitable hospice rooted in the Northeast. They provide outstanding, specialist and expert care to adults and children with life-limiting conditions – they are truly incredible. I love the outdoors and getting involved in hard graft, so I am super excited to be part of this adventure. I can’t wait to muck in and give it my all.  Myself, and my good friend Clare will be fundraising together, and we hope to raise over £8,000 pounds ahead of the trek. We have lots of fundraising ideas to raise as much money as possible ”

This is his fourth year supporting the hospice and his 12th Great North Run. We will also be documenting Paul’s Vietnamese trek in 2024, so watch this space…..
