Roman blinds are made up of one flat piece of fabric which gradually folds as the controls are pulled. The opening mechanism allows the fabric to form neat folds, while the fabric lays flat against the window when closed. Devilishly simple and exceptionally stylish.
While we specialise in large, motorised Roman blind systems for cruise ships and ferries, we also cater for smaller, manual projects too.
Solarglide specialise in motorised Roman blinds for cruise ships, yachts, narrowboats and boats, and come in premade formats or can be fully customised to your needs.
We’re proud of our strong relationships with UK and international fabric manufacturers and suppliers and our Roman blinds can be found on boats, cruise liners and yachts all over the world.
Every one of our stylish Roman blinds are handmade in the UK by our talented team of expert tailors. They’re all child-safe and are delivered to you as complete units, ready to hand. This means they arrive with rails and fixings.
We have a range of machine washable fabrics which are suitable for Roman blinds and all of Solarglide’s recommended fabric ranges are IMO FR approved. FR One MED approved fabrics are available by batch, upon request.
Soft, flowing fabric doesn’t fold well and can look untidy on the window.
But don’t worry, we have a wide range of suitable fabrics to help you make your choice (if the fabric hasn’t been specified by an interior design or isn’t part of the newbuild specification).
Some of our favourite fabrics for Roman blinds are Amante, Astaire, Raku and Santon.
