Skills For Everyday Life

First aid training is essential, it can be the difference between life and death and at Solarglide, we recognise the importance of everyone in the company being first aid trained. While some companies only have a select few team members being able to offer first aid assistance, we believe that it is paramount for everyone to have these skills not just for work, but for everyday life.

The training was carried out by North East company Life Saving Training and involved a three-day intensive course. Upon completion the team received a three year ITC Certificate in First Aid at Work in SCQF Level 6 qualification.

The training was completed at the Linskill Centre in North Shields, it was easy to understand and included active roleplay. On the course we covered topics such as defibrillators, dealing with cardiac arrest, first aid techniques and diabetes support, as well as the likes of helping adults and children with breakages and bleeding.

Investing in People

Due to this extensive course we currently have six people that are first aid trained. Our Managing Director, Paul Pringle explained how helpful the course has been, “Before the course I would not have felt confident helping someone in crisis for fear of making it worse. Now, I would be able to help, support and possibly save a life at work, home or out in public.”

At our offices in Gosforth we have a defibrillator in the factory which can be accessed by anyone during our office hours. We are extremely proud to be a part of this life saving network and to be able to assist anyone in a medical emergency.

We also have three first aid stations throughout our building, these consist of a comprehensive first aid kit, an eye wash station, a fire extinguisher and a fire blanket.

We believe that first aid training should be compulsory for everyone at work, if you are interested in learning more please visit: https://www.lifesavingtraining.co.uk/.
