‘We Would Work With Solarglide In The Future’ Says NCL Project Designer After Solarglide Solved Their Blind Solution

Blackout blinds are the STAR, solving an irregular shaped problem

Satisfied Customer

Jorge Mesa, the Project Interior Designer for Studio Dado who worked on a recent project with Solarglide says he was delighted with the professionalism and delivery from Solarglide.

“The installation was so much better than anything any other vendor had ever come up with for those conditions. The client was happy with the solution, so we hope the guests can also appreciate it. I’m sure we will be working on another refurbishment project with Solarglide in the future.”

Solarglide Installation

Solarglide were commissioned to install blinds for 46 irregular windows in four forward luxury suites on Deck 12 of the cruise liner MV Norwegian Star.

Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) had tried a number of different window dressing solutions but they were not satisfied. The latest attempt of luxury Roman blinds looked impressive but were not functional.

How did Solarglide solve this problem?

Solarglide travelled to Miami to undertake a detailed survey of the cabin windows. These were trapezoidal and triangular, steeply sloped, tilted at various angles with limited space for securing brackets and fixtures. NCL required a solution which blocked out daylight, could be easily and safely operated by passengers and crew alike, but more importantly provided the quality and luxe feel, befitting of their luxury suites.

Solarglide created a bespoke prototype screen solution, and once approved, installed 46 individual SG LUNAGLIDER blackout screens while the vessel was under refit in Marseille.

The SG LUNAGLIDER blackout screens were manufactured to the exact shape and size of the windows, and special tension boxes were added to keep the fabric flat against the glass to prevent it from sagging and distorting.
