The Ghost Ship Mary Celeste
Solarglide explore the Maritime Mysteries . . . The Ghost Ship / Mary Celeste
The Los Angeles Times retold the Mary Celeste story in June 1883 in great detail ‘Every sail was set, the tiller was lashed fast, not a rope was out of place . . . The fire was burning in the Galley. The dinner was standing untasted and scarcely cold . . . the log written-up to the hour of discovery !
In 1872, the Mary Celeste set sail from New York City. She was on her way to Genoa, carrying a large load of denatured alcohol that would have made her captain rich. However, a month after its departure, the Mary Celeste was discovered floating off the coast of Portugal’s Azores Islands.
The crew had completely disappeared without a trace and everything was left untouched.
The mystery surrounding the fate of missing or abandoned ships has inspired many items of nautical lore and the creation of paranormal ‘Zones’, such as the Bermuda Triangle.
Solarglide have included four other ships that are still missing to this day . . .
